What types of classes do you offer?
We offer Pre-School & Recreational Gymnastics classes for ages 2-18 yrs. These classes include Floor Exercise and tumble during each class, as well as different events each week (Trampoline, Tumble Trak, Balance Beam, Bars, & Vault). We also offer classes that are strictly Tumbling (Total Tumble & Advanced Total Tumble). These classes only go to Floor Exercise, Tramp & Tumble Trak. These classes are intended for girls 9 years old and up and are often taken for the purposes of cheer tumbling. Back to TopHow do I register my child?
Click on the "schedule" drop down menu at the top of the page and select "reg form". This opens a pdf file registration form. Please complete and snail mail with a check for your tuition to BUGS at 2111 Yost Ave, Bloomington IN 47403. If you are unable to print the form please call 812-336-7469 and our staff will fax or mail you a reg form. Back to TopWhat is "priority registration" and "open registration"?
Due to limited class space, "priority registration" allows current students first opportunity to re-enroll in their desired class before the spaces are made available to new students during "open registration". Priority registration week usually occurs two weeks before the class term ends. Please take advantage of this service to secure your desired class. Back to TopDo you offer open gyms?
Yes. Open gym on Saturdays 1:00-2:00pm is $6 each time you attend and is for gym members (anyone who has paid the annual registration fee of $25 and has a completed & signed waiver form). Gymnasts must be between the ages of 7 & 16. We also have open gym for ages 18 months- 6 years. “Tumbling Tots” Open Gym is $4 each time and requires parent supervision. Tumbling Tots is currently being held on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 9:30am-10:30am, as well as Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays, 11:45am-12:45pm. Back to TopDo you offer a team program?
Yes. We have several strong development and competitive team programs. Our USAG Competitive Team consists of levels 4-10 and ranges in age from 6-18 years old. This team competes from fall through spring, mostly in Indiana & in the Midwest. This team trains year-round. Our team has had many successes- not the least of which is the family feeling that is held by all involved. Our competitive team gymnasts are self-confident young women, who know how to work hard and have fun at the same time. We also have several development teams. Our “Twistars” and “Flipsters” Teams are development programs designed to train a high level of gymnastics with a smaller commitment (4 hours/week, rather than 8-20 for Competitive Team). These gymnasts range in age from 6 years to 14 years. These Development Teams also help prepare gymnasts for Competitive Team. The Twistars and Flipsters compete each May in our annual “Twist-Stars and Stripes” Competition. They also train year-round. We also have several development teams for the young, up & comings! Our “Challenge” and “Advanced Challenge” Teams cater to our younger advanced gymnasts, usually ranging in age from 4 to 6. Back to TopWhat should a gymnast wear to class?
A leotard is best, but a leotard and shorts or shorts and a t-shirt will do just fine. Do not wear anything with zippers or metal. Do not wear anything too big or bulky that could restrict movement or get caught up in the equipment. Bare feet are best. Make sure that you tie back long hair and please do not wear jewelry. Back to TopDo you offer boys classes?
Our classes are open to boys; however, we do not offer classes specifically for boys because we do not have all of the men’s equipment, nor do we have staff trained in the field of men’s gymnastics at this time. Our preschool and beginning recreational classes can be beneficial for boys to learn the basics on floor and to gain strength, coordination and flexibility. Once a young man reaches a certain skill level or age, we usually recommend that they look into a program that is designed for men’s gymnastics. Back to TopDo you offer classes or programs all year?
Yes! We offer weekly classes all year, in 7-week Terms. We also offer camps over summer break and during some holiday breaks! Our camps are a great combination of gymnastics, games, and fun! Back to TopCan my child make up a class if he/she misses one?
No not usually. We apologize, but most of our classes are full and if we add people who are making up, it throws off our student to teacher ratio. It’s always worth asking though. If we have another class that will work for your child that is not full, we will allow make-ups. However, general policy is not to promise that make-ups are an option. Back to TopHow do you place children in the appropriate class level? By age? By skill?
Our placement is based on a combination of age, skill level, and maturity level. If you are new to our program please call Allie or Lesli (812.336.7469) to discuss level placement. Our currently enrolled students can expect to receive evaluations and level recommendations about halfway through each term. Back to Top |
