BUGS offers a competitive team program that includes Levels 3-10. At BUGS, we pride ourselves on making the team experience full of fun, friendships, and of course, success! Our staff is committed to creating a positive and encouraging environment for our gymnasts. Our coaches not only train great gymnastics technique, we nurture skills in leadership and dedication. It’s all about learning how to set goals, working hard to achieve those goals, and then taking from it a sense of accomplishment and confidence. We want our BUGS gymnasts to Dream Big in Gymnastics and in Life!
All of our team coaches are safety certified, professional members of USA Gymnastics. Our coaching staff is headed up by owner and optional head coach, Lesli Berry (previously Lesli Smith). Lesli is a club owner with a Bachelor’s degree from IU and 18 years of coaching experience (including everything from L10, to high school teams, to pre-school gymnasts). Lesli believes in a strong foundation of safety, strength, flexibility and shaping for all team gymnasts.
Our team competes only in USAG sanctioned events. Our compulsories (Levels 3-6) compete throughout Indiana (mainly within an hour or two of Bloomington). Our optional gymnasts (Levels 7-10) compete throughout Indiana, the Region and the Nation. All of our team levels participate in approximately 6-8 meets per year. Our team program is by invitation only. We hold an evaluation every January for any gymnasts interested in being placed onto our competitive team or into any of our development programs. We also invite gymnasts from our class programs. Generally, we add new members in the spring, after the Indiana State Meets are completed.
